CEDAR RAPIDS – Theatre Cedar Rapids has announced its lineup for the 2009-10 Season, a year that will see the group return to its renovated home in the Iowa Theater Building with February’s production of “The Producers.”

The first four shows of the season – “Altar Boyz,” “Rock & Roll,” “Annie” and “The Laramie Project” – will take place in the organization’s temporary home of TCR Lindale, 4444 1st Ave. NE across from Lindale Mall.

In February of 2010, however, Theatre Cedar Rapids moves back downtown to the Iowa Theater Building for “The Producers,” “Proof,” “Still Life With Iris” and the musical “Hairspray.”

Tickets to individual shows will not go on sale until the fall, meaning that season ticket buyers will have first pick of seats.

“Several of our shows are projected to play to sold-out crowds, particularly when we return downtown with ‘The Producers,’” said TCR Managing Director Casey Prince of Cedar Rapids. “So we encourage audiences to reserve their season tickets in advance.”

Season ticket order forms are currently available online at www.theatrecr.org. Season brochures will be mailed out later this month; if you wish to be added to the mailing list, call (319) 366-8591. Brochures will also be available at TCR Lindale and at the theater’s business office at the Grant Wood House, 800 2nd Ave. SE.

For more information, call (319) 366-8591 or visit www.theatrecr.org.

The 2009-10 lineup:

Altar Boyz (PG, sponsored by RBC Wealth Management; Sept. 11-27, 2009 at TCR Lindale)
A foot-stomping musical comedy about a fictional Christian boy band on the last night of their national “Raise the Praise” tour. This funny and touching show about faith, dreams and record deals has been a hit off-Broadway for the past five years.

Rock ‘n’ Roll (PG-13, Linge Series; Oct. 16-25, 2009 at TCR Lindale)
It is 1968 and the world is ablaze with rebellion, accompanied by a sound track of the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. Over the next 20 years, the extraordinary lives of two characters spin and intersect in this electrifying play by Tom Stoppard.

Annie (G, sponsored by Alliant Energy; Nov. 20-Dec. 6 at TCR Lindale)
The sun’ll come out tomorrow for one of the world’s best-loved musicals. Annie is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who finds a new family and home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks.

The Laramie Project (PG-13, sponsored by Ryan Companies & OPN Architects; Jan. 15-24 at TCR Lindale)
In October of 1998, a college student named Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, beaten and left to die on a fence outside Laramie, Wyoming. Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie in the aftermath, and constructed a deeply moving theatrical experience from these interviews and their own experiences. Help TCR mark the 10-year anniversary of the Shepard case by joining us for this powerful production.

The Producers (PG-13, sponsored by GreatAmerica Leasing; Feb. 26-March 14 at the Iowa Theater Building, 102 3rd St. SE)
Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks’ classic cult comedy film. Join us when the Iowa Theater Building re-opens with this Tony Award-winning Broadway musical comedy.

Proof (PG, Linge Series; April 9-18 at The Iowa Theater Building, 102 3rd St. SE)
Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, how much of her father’s madness-or genius-will she inherit? The hit Broadway play arrives on the TCR stage.

Still Life with Iris (G; May 14-23 at The Iowa Theater Building, 102 3rd St. SE)
This piece is the first play for young audiences to receive the Kennedy Center’s New American Plays Award. When Iris is separated from her family and loses her memory, can she remember who she is and find her way home?

Hairspray (PG, sponsored by United Fire Group; July 9-25 at The Iowa Theater Building, 102 3rd St. SE)
First a hit movie, then a hit Broadway musical! In 1962 Baltimore, Tracy Turnblad becomes a star on “The Corny Collins Show” despite being mocked by the jealous popular girls. A musical celebration for the whole family.
