The Follies and Orchestra Iowa are teaming up this weekend for a holiday extravaganza. The show celebrates Christmas classics, choruses and choreography in a festive song and dance celebration. It tells the story of a Scrooge-like man who is disgusted with the commercialism and hype of the holidays as he rediscovers his holiday spirit and the meaning for the season. The show is great for all ages and tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.

In the spirit of the holidays, the Englert Theatre will host its annual free family-friendly event tonight in Iowa City. Check out Festival of Carols. and sip free hot cocoa and sing along to your favorite Christmas carols. The Crescendo Children’s Choir, Old Capitol Chorus, Market Street Theatre School, UI Swing Club, Dan Knight, Kevin B.F. Burt and others are scheduled to entertain on stage.
