Minnesota singer-songwriter Peter Mayer brings his unique and passionate percussive guitar style and lyrics of conscience to Iowa City.
Mayer writes songs for a small planet — songs about interconnectedness and the human journey; about the beauty and the mystery of the world. Whimsical, humorous, and profound, his music breaks the boundaries of “folk”, and transcends to a realm beyond the everyday love song, to a place of wonder at the very fact of life itself.
Eastern Iowa musician Ben Schmidt with Larry Mossman will open for Mayer. With Schmidt on guitar and Mossman on mandolin, the duo performs an eclectic mix from ballads to blues. Inspired from post-flood impressions, Schmidt’s latest CD, “Silt,” explores lives of people who have experienced physical, emotional and spiritual personal storms and the aftermath.
The show is at 8 p.m. Saturday. Find all the details here.
