Compared to The Everly Brothers and The Jayhawks, Storyhill brings together infectious melodies, smart story songs and heartbreaking harmonies.

Their beautiful music and passionate performances have won them critical acclaim and devoted fans (“Hill Heads”) across the country. Garrison Keillor said Storyhill sets “a new high standard for male duet harmony.”

Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson started performing together as teenagers while living in Bozeman, Mont. The duo went their separate ways after high school but reunited in the early 90s to tour the college circuit as Storyhill.

After a second hiatus, the duo reformed to release an eponymous record. Now, with the release of their latest album, Shade of the Trees, Storyhill confirms they are one of the most important songwriting duos today. Mixing old-fashioned storytelling with hauntingly spare acoustic arrangements, they sing on classic themes of hope and light amid despair and darkness.

Storyhill plays tonight in Cedar Rapids.
