Sweet Dee's Beignets will debut at the downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers Market Saturday.

Beignets will bring a taste of the Big Easy to Cedar Rapids downtown farmers market Saturday. A new vendor at the market, Sweet Dee’s Beignets, will serve up made-to-order beinets, a sweet treat popular in New Orleans which are similar to donuts. Sweet Dee’s creations include flavors like caramel apple and lemon ricotta.

Sweet Dees, owned by John Chargo, was named after the founder’s Great Grandma Dee Dee, who was a woman with an insatiable sweet tooth and a passion for perfection.

The booth will be located near the southeast corner of Greene Square Park at the Cedar Rapids market from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
