Great Iowa River Canoe and Kayak Race will be Saturday in Iowa City

The Iowa Valley Resource, Conservation and Development Council will host its third annual Great Iowa River Canoe and Kayak Race on Saturday (5/9) from 10 a.m to 1 p.m.

The race, which is open to paddlers of all ranges of ability, begins at Sturgis Access in Iowa City and continues approximately nine miles to Hills Access.

Check in for the event will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Fin and Feather Parking Lot, 125 Highway 1 West.

Volunteers will serve a pancake breakfast. Race instructions will be given as Sturgis Access at 9:40 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.

Race tee shirts will be available, and award plaques will be given to the top three finishers in each of the multiple individual racing categories.
