
Fairgoers watch the action on the carnival rides during the 23rd annual Hiawatha Hog Wild Days festival held at Hiawatha City Park in 2011. This year's festival starts Thursday (6/21) and continues through Sunday (6/24).
Hiawatha is ready to go wild this weekend (6/21-6/24) with Hog Wild Days, from the Jr. Mr. and Miss and Favorite Grandmother contests on opening night til the fireworks finale Sunday, guests can wallow in a whole heap of fun, as well as food, of course.
Games range from bingo and a bowling pin toss to pinewood derby races and a Ping-Pong drop. Highlights include carnival rides and flea market throughout, the 5K Squeal ‘n Run/Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday and parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Free music in the park and bands in the Big Tent showcase a variety of sounds, from the funk of Groove Ship to the country of Lockren and Lonesome Road and classic rock from Twist and Shout, 2 Buck Chuck and others. It’s enough to make your tail curl.
