The weather should cool down this weekend creating a good opportunity to get out and have some fun. There are 215 fun things to do this weekend. What will you be doing?

Friday

Uptown Friday Nights – Cedar Island Band – Every Friday night from Memorial Day through the end of July, the Cedar Rapids Jaycees host Uptown Friday Nights. The event runs from 5 PM-8 PM at Greene Square Park.

Rock the Dock – Come “Rock the Dock” with the Museum & Aquarium at our new outdoor Mississippi Plaza! Enjoy live music featuring Zero2Sixty!  Plus, the River’s Edge Cafe will have its full menu available for guests. Beer, mixed drinks and wine also available.

Friday Night Concert Series – The Fez – Join us on Friday Nights in the Ped Mall for The Friday Night Concert Series, presented by Billion Automotive, starting May 18 – August 31, 2012. Concerts are held outside of the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel.

Saturday

Nordic Fest – In 2012, Nordic Fest will celebrate its 46th anniversary. Since 1967, over 1 1/2 million visitors from all over the world have attended our festival.

Walker Pickle Days – The day starts off with a breakfast at the fire station. 8:00 a.m. – Fifth annual 5K run at the city park and at 9:00 a.m. one-mile kid’s fun run. There will be events throughout the day: barbeque contest; kid’s, pet’s, and pickle’s parade; live music; wine tasting; youth kickball tournament; depot tours; adult bag tournaments; horseshoe tournament; kid’s games; frog jumping contest; parade starts at 6:00 p.m.; talent show; rides; kettle corn; Lion’s Club dinner; and fireworks at dusk at the ballpark with live music before and afterwards.

Millstream Brew-au Beach Party – Fun in the sun in the “waters” at the Millstream Brewery! Beach games, Luau food and live rockin’ beach music.

Bix 7 Road Race - Join us July 28th, as the greatest long distance runners in the world will be competing to win thousands of dollars in prize money. Come and try to conquer this challenging course along with over 15,000 other participants, as we “Run With The Best.”

Film: “El Duque de la Bachata” – In anticipation of The Duke of Bachata’s Iowa debut at CSPS on Aug. 3, Legion Arts presents a free screening of the acclaimed documentary that follows the Duke (Joan Soriano) as he rises from the poor countryside of Santo Domingo to international stardom.
