IOWA CITY – Heart of a Student and Live Weekend are proud to announce the Macadelic Tour featuring rising star Mac Miller with special guest Travis Porter and YG. They will be performing on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the McLeod Center on the University of Northern Iowa campus in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 3
In a blossoming hip-hop hotbed of talent, Malcolm “Mac Miller” McCormick is next up out of Pittsburgh, PA. A recent graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, Mac caught the eyes and ears of Rostrum Records, inking a deal in July 2010. A multi-talented musician who can play numerous instruments and a young novice of the freestyle/cipher/battle circuit of his hometown, Mac has been paving his way to super-stardom in his blue-collar hometown for years.
As an addition to the concert, Heart of a Student will host a daytime core conference at the University of Northern Iowa.
The event will include 1,500 High School students (juniors and seniors) from across Iowa (Iowa City, Cedar Rapids Quad Cities, Des Moines, Northeast Iowa) as an outreach activity to increase college awareness and readiness in students.
The goal is to enlarge the application pool of college-bound low-income, first generation, and minority students. Professionals from the music, television, and higher education industries will collaborate on topics ranging from, registering for college to financial aid, scholarship applications, and budgeting your time and dollars.
“Our goal is to bring accomplished artists and entertainment professionals in contact with the students in the geographical areas where these activities are aberrant. We seek to give each student a jump start in the application process, provide production experience, and promote higher education.” said Dante Means, founder of Heart of a Student.
Live Weekend continues the trend of bringing emerging artists to the state of Iowa. Previous shows have included Wiz Khalifa, Mike Posner, Big Sean and most recently Grammy Nominated artist J. Cole
