IOWA CITY — Prairie Voices Productions will hold the 19th annual Iowa Women’s Music Festival Sept. 1 to 2.
The festival features local, regional and national performers.
From noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 1 during “Day in the Park” in Upper City Park, 1 E. Park Rd., performers will be Kim-Char Meredith of Chicago as emcee; Emjay of Rock Island, Ill.; Coles Whalen of Denver, Colo.; Big Bad Gina of Fayetteville, Ark.; Lisa Ferraro & Erika Luckett of Seattle; Sharon Jackson Band of Cedar Rapids; and Camille Bloom & The Recovery of Seattle. The event is free.
There also will be a kids area, crafts market and food vendors.
On Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. Cris Williamson, Ferron & Bitch will perform at the Englert Theatre, 221 E. Washington St. Tickets are $25 in advance or $27.50 the day of the show. Tickets are available at www.englert.org or (319) 688-2653.
On Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. there will be a film screening and fundraiser at the Women’s Resource & Action Center, 130 N. Madison St. The documentary “Thunder,” about the work and life of folk singer Ferron, produced by the performer Bitch in collaboration with filmmaker Billie Jo Cavallaro will be shown. Donations are accepted.
