Grammy award winning superstar T-Pain will perform in Iowa City Sept. 6 at the fourth annual Hawkapalooza in Hubbard Park. This annual free event celebrates Hawkeye athletics with a pep rally, food from local vendors and the concert.
Hawkapalooza 2012 will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to all students and the general public.
Defining his own personal genre as “Hard & B,” Florida-born T-Pain was recording in his bedroom music studio by age 10, foreshadowing his rise to household-name status in the field of beat-heavy, infectiously danceable R&B.
He exploded onto the scene with 2005’s iconic “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper)” featuring Mike Jones, launching his label Nappy Boy Entertainment in the same year and continued his reign of radio-ready fun with hits like “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” in 2007 and “Take Your Shirt Off” in 2009.
In addition to his Besides his individual work, T-Pain has made numerous guest appearances on tracks by Li’l Wayne, Ludacris, Kanye West, T.I., R. Kelly, and many others. His newest album, “rEVOLVEr,” was released in December and features the Top 10 single “5 O’Clock” with Lily Allen and Wiz Khalifa and “Best Love Song” featuring Chris Brown.
Hawkapalooza will also include the Ultimate Tailgate from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Hubbard Park with classic tailgate games, free food from local vendors and prizes like Hawkeye apparel.
