IOWA CITY - Build it and they will come. (Especially if it’s a burrito. On a college campus. And being sold for only $1 dollar.)
Panchero’s – which opened it’s first store in Iowa City in 1992 – celebrated its 20th anniversary on Tuesday.
Similar to past anniversaries, the chain was offering $1 burritos at all restaurant locations from 4 to 6 p.m.
Rodney Anderson, the founder of Panchero’s, said the promotions have sometime been so popular that customers often line up down the street.
It looked like Tuesday was no exception in Iowa City. As of 5:00 p.m., the line stretched a full city block.

Dustin McKenna, a Cedar Rapids burrito fan, said lines were moving quicker in Cedar Rapids. He got his fill of steak, rice, black beans, corn, salsa, cheese and sour cream in about 25 minutes at the Edgewood location.
