The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group today announced that it will once again host its Historic Uptown residence tour/fundraiser Friday, Nov. 9, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The event, titled Mount Vernon After Dark, will offer Uptown apartment tours that feature the food of eight local restaurants and the creative work of several local artists and musicians. Mount Vernon After Dark will include food and wine and other beverages from several eateries including Big Creek Market, Chameleon’s, El Sol, Fuel, Gary’s Foods, Lincoln Café and Wine Bar, Mount Vernon Confections, Perfect Blend, Pizza Palace, Skillet Café and Video Village.
New this year will be four Uptown residences, not included on last year’s tour, as well as four from last year’s tour, and a lighting sculpture and installation on the site of the former Mount Vernon Fire Station, 217 First St. NW, created by artist, lighting designer and Mount Vernon resident Stan Crocker. Sauter-Baty Associates, 113 First St. NW, will once again serve as the official wine tasting and Silent Auction stop on the tour. And all on the tour will experience the best in art and music that Mount Vernon has to offer.
“The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Development Group oversees dozens of events and community-betterment projects to raise awareness and enhance our quality of life,” said committee chair Gretchen Lindenbolt. “This is an opportunity for all of us who live, work and visit this community to give back. We’re hoping everyone will come to take part in celebrating our local architecture, history and culture.”
Cost of the tour is $20 per person, and tickets can be purchased in advance by cash or check through the Mount Vernon Visitor Center, 311 First St. NW, or through Mount Vernon Bank & Trust, 206 First St. SW, Mount Vernon.
