NORTH LIBERTY — Hairball will light up the candles on North Liberty’s 100th birthday bash July 13, 2013.
The ’80s cover party band will roll out a retro rock experience in the evening, to close out festivities at the North Liberty Executive Park along Kansas Avenue, near Interstate 380. Get ready to party like it’s 1988 — and the entire decade — with the music of Prince, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Queen, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, AC/DC and other arena rockers, complete with pyrotechnics.
Concert tickets are $5, on sale April 5 at NLBirthdayBash.org
The daylong celebration begins with the Community Institute and Picnic from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring games, music and activities for all ages. This blast from the past event harkens back 100 years to a tradition that mixed music, cooking contests and lectures. Birthday Bashl organizers say the 2013 version might swap a craft brew contest for the 1915 best pound of butter contest, but the committee is open to ideas.
