The mighty mushroom will be celebrated throughout Cedar Rapids’ Czech community this weekend during the annual Houby Days, with events at St. Ludmila and St. Wenceslaus Catholic churches and all around Czech Village.
Food, music, contests, displays and demonstrations are on the menu, along with a parade of costumes, May Pole dancing and Saturday afternoon’s big parade at 1 p.m. from on one side of the river to Czech Village on the other side.
Miss Czech Slovak Iowa Talent and Crowning Ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Kosek Bandstand, and in the evening, Bob Dorr and the Blue Band will be tearing up the floor. Vitame Vas!
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
