The North Pole is coming to a Red-and-Greene Square Park during Saturday’s Fire & Ice Festival in downtown Cedar Rapids. Festivities get under way at 1 p.m. with ice sculptures in the park, followed from 3 to 6 p.m. with Turkey Bowling, a Holiday Toss, carriage rides and the North Pole Express children’s train.
Santa will be there, too, before and after the parade. Move indoors for performances of the Nutcracker Ballet at the Paramount Theatre at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. (see another Best Bet for details) and the annual Chili Challenge from 3 to 7 p.m. inside the Armstrong Food Court.
Then head back to the park for the city tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. and the Holiday DeLight Parade from 6 to 7 p.m. Grown-ups: Grab your ugliest sweater and warm up with the Hoopla and Z102.9 party at Dublin City Pub from 7 to 11 p.m. Cheers!
