The star of comedian Katt Williams was soaring two-years-ago.
Over this past weekend, Williams allegedly broke into a home near Atlanta and stole $3,500 in jewelry and collectible coins. Williams’ bail was set at $41,000 after he was charged with burglary and criminal trespassing.
Yarbrough said the Sunday night incident happened at a home in Newnan, about 38 miles southwest of Atlanta. Yarbrough said the victim — identified in a police report as Daniel Broach — called police around 9 p.m. to report the comedian broke into his home and stole items.
Williams had a crowbar when he entered and is accused of taking $3,555 in jewelry and collectible coins.
Though still one of the most popular stand-ups in the country, Williams seems to be struggling with his celebrity. Specifically, Williams has had multiple run-ins with the police over the last two years, which seems to be because of an ongoing mental illness.
For a comedian who can regularly pull down over $10,000-per-show, it seems out of character for Williams to break into houses to steal jewelry. Maybe it’s because of a mental illness or his inability to handle his fame. Or maybe it’s for new material.
Whatever the case may be, this is one of the weirder stories I’ve read all year.
