Project Runway – Week Eleven

Posted on 01 November 2009 by MaryB

It is week eleven on Project Runway, and the clock is ticking. The tension is also starting to build as all of the designers begin to crumble under the pressure. Except the robot known as Irina, who doesn’t let her emotions get to her and takes no prisoners in the process.

This week’s challenge was for the designers to build a companion piece to what the judges deemed as their best look. The budget and time constraint? $100 and one day to design it.

Irina had the Aspen look from last week, Gordana had the divorcee/wedding challenge, Christopher had the red carpet challenge, Althea had suit outfit that she won with the paperbag waist, Carol Hannah had the Bob Mackie/Christina Aguilera challenge and Logan? Well since Logan has never won, they picked out his best outfit. This one being the red carpet challenge dress.

As Logan is designing his outfit, Althea realizes he is stealing the same collar made of zippers that she had in the aforementioned Bob Mackie/Christina Aguilera challenge. She tells Irina that she is peeved at that and Irina eggs her on to say something. Althea does not.

However, upon arrival of the runway show Irina pipes up and mentions how Althea’s slouchy cardigan looks alot like her sweater from the Aspen challenge. (Hey, she didn’t get the nickname Meana Irina for nothing folks.) Althea flabbergasted, later declares Irina was not right to do so. Althea wins the challenge with pants, the cardigan and tank underneath.  Judges actress Kerry Washington, Nina Garcia and Project Runway Season 2 contestant Nick Verreos all love the look. Heidi declares everyone wanted it, but its hers! I guess those are the perks of being the producer/host.

Christopher, Logan and Gordana end up in the bottom. I am not sure how Christopher skated out of the bottom two, but he did. His dress though pretty, was not as cool or sophisticated as the original red carpet challenge dress. He was excused. Logan and Gordana are then left to fight it out in the bottom two.

Unfortunately the road ended for Logan. The judges did not like his futuristic Judy Jetson-esque outfit. Sadly, it was okay for Logan to go. He was not turning out the designs necessary to propel him to Bryant Park.

Now with the last challenge next week, we can finally see who the remaining ones are.  And unless Christopher pulls a rabbit out of his hat, I am willing to bet it is an all girl finale.
Stay tuned.                                                                                           – MARY
