She's more Katie Couric than she is Paris Hilton. As far as I know Palin has never made a sex tape, which puts her outside the Hilton category right there. I'm not a fan of Palin, or even a supporter. But her folksy conservatism appeals to a lot of people, just as Ronald Reagan did (and he was also criticized as an intellectual fly-weight.)
