She & Him’s M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel have completed a new record that is due to be released in 2010, Deschanel said in a recent interview.

“I have a new [She & Him] record coming out in the spring,” Deschanel said. “It’s official. It’s done and being released in the spring. And we’re going to go on tour.”

The world-class actress/singer (she’s great in Almost Famous) also recently told the Wall Street Journal that She & Him will continue the “Volume” title album series that the pair has used throughout their time as a group.

She & Him is surprisingly entertaining and one of the few times an actress actually sounds good while trying her hand at singing.  Scarlett Johansson has been OK with her love affair with Tom Waits songs, but Leighton Meester and a bunch of others can’t sing all that well.  So I’m happy for a new She & Him record and for the new music that’s scheduled to be released in 2010, including new records from Interpol, MGMT and (hopefully) The Strokes.
