It’s been written for weeks and now I’m officially on board: SNL is in a down year. They don’t have a sketch or recurring theme that has people excited like last year’s political sketches.
Now, as the show’s material gets worse and worse, big-name guests have started to flea Saturday Night Live.
Take the next three weeks, for example. (Via the Orlando Sentinel)
Nov. 7: Taylor Swift (pictured) will be the host and musical guest. Expect a lot of Kanye West jokes.
Nov. 14: January Jones of “Mad Men” will host. The Black Eyed Peas will be the musical guest.
Nov. 21: Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt off “(500) Days of Summer” will host. The Dave Matthews Band will be the musical guest for the first time in nearly a decade.
Does any of those hosts do anything for you? Taylor Swift isn’t an actress, which means the writers will be limited in the different situations she can be placed in.
January Jones isn’t even the star of her show, which doesn’t have a wide appeal. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been in a bunch of indie films (plus G.I. Joe) since appearing on 3rd Rock for the Sun.
2009 is now officially a down year for Saturday Night Live.
