I swear Carlos O’Kelly’s is haunted!!! OMG! Everytime I visit I swear I am under some sort of curse. The ghost of some evil being always possesses my waiter or waitress and gives me HORRIBLE service!!! Go there and see for yourself I swear it’s true!!! OMG!!!

I live a few blocks from Oak Hill Cemetary in Cedar Rapids. I used to walk my 2 dogs to Van Vecten park, which is behind the cemetary on the other side of a small area of trees. You can see the tombstones though the tree line.
I am not from Cedar Rapids and was not familiar with the rumor of it being haunted – until reading this page! What I read here prompted me to share my story, which now makes sense of the experiences I had there.

One night I was there around 9 pm with my dogs. It was late fall and no leaves were on the trees. I could see a small light of some sort bobbing around in the trees close to the cemetary. I couldn’t tell what it was, and it went away a short time after that.
The dogs were acting funny and kept staring toward the trees and were not running around and wrestling with each other like normal. I felt uncomfortable and decided to leave.
Several other times when I went there after dark I had the strong feeling of someone watching me from the trees. I wasn’t thinking ghosts – I was thinking dangerous live human.
The last time I was there, the feeling of being watched was so uncomfortable that the hair was standing up on my arms and the back of my neck. The dogs were again standing motionless and just staring towards the trees. I put their leashes on and got out of there immediately. I felt almost in a panic.
That has been 2 years ago and I haven’t been back there at night since.

I went to the Palo park about ten years ago with my mother, sister and little brother. The Pleasant Ridge cemetery was not too far from it. On our way home, my mom took my sister to the bathroom about 80 feet away, and left me sitting in the car in front of the thirteen steps. I was only 9 at the time, so of course I was uncomfortable….I really bacame uncomfortable when my spine tingled and the hair on the nape of my neck started to raise. Curious, my strange sense of wonder led me to the top of the steps. At the corner of my eye, I saw an old woman (from 1800 to 1850) just strolling through the yard, minding her own. Amazed as I was, I kept staring at her. Her presence was nice and welcoming. After about three minutes, she dissapeared into the fog of a warm July evening.

I was eating at Carlos O Kelleys one evening a couple years ago and my plate lifted itself up and dumped my food onto the table. I couldnt believe it!!

I have been to Oak Hill Cemetery at night, I did not see anything (at least to my recollection) it was more than 10 years ago. However, one night on Friday 13th in October, friends and I went to many cemeteries….one of them was one of the cemeteries behind Oak Hill. My friend and I were walking through, not disturbing anything and we heard “GET OUT! LEAVE NOW!” it was like a whispering among the trees. We both turned and looked at each other and we heard it again, we ran…jumped over stones so as to not disrupt them or be disrespectful, our knees landed on the stone walkway. Another time we went to 13 steps and no one else was there,,,however, when we came back down there was an upside down pentagram beside the driver’s side rear tire. We left.

I have seen the ghost in the Oak Hill cemetary – years ago, a bunch of us got brave and went over there late one night. It was freaky – we saw her from some distance, but were all in agreement that we couldn’t all have made it up at the same time. We got the heck out of there after that.
