Brucemore Holiday Tours

Santa may be coming tonight, but there are still 12 days left of Christmas. Keep yourself in the holiday spirit by stopping in for a holiday tour of the Brucemore mansion and grounds. You’ll see 14 exquisitely decorated trees throughout the mansion and be transported to the early 1900s as they honor the traditions of Christmases past. Plus, they say there’s a 1940s surprise in the basement.

Holidays with the Hoovers

It turns out President Hoover enjoyed a jolly holiday. So stop out to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum to see the Holidays with the Hoovers exhibit, including 20 trees with decorations inspired by the life and travels of the Hoovers, like the one commemorating the 1929 White House Christmas party when a fire broke out in the west wing.

Winter Break Day Camps

The kids are out of school all week so make plans to keep them busy at the Iowa Children’s Museum Winter Break Day Camps. Full and half day sessions are available for kids in Kindergarten through age 12. There’s “Art Adventure,” “Mad About Music,” and “Science Sleuths” to choose from. Now that’s serious fun (and quiet time for the rest of the family!)
