Christopher Nolan has announced the name of the sequel to The Dark Knight.
It will be called The Dark Knight Rises, referring to Batman’s inevitable return to Gotham after being forced to run away from the city at the end of Nolan’s breathtaking second Batman film.
“We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,” Nolan said this week.
The usual suspects will most likely be back. Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and possibly Aaron Eckhart. The biggest addition to the cast will be Tom Hardy, who recently worked with Nolan in Inception.
Hardy was allegedly set to play The Riddler, but Nolan says that won’t be the case.
“It won’t be the Riddler,” Nolan said in an exclusive interview with The LA Times.
Stay tuned for more information over the next year.
