grenier lands eminem on ‘entourage’

Most of the time in television, special guest stars are brought in because of the relationship upper management has with that particular actor or their agent.

Entourage is a completely different case because all of its guest stars are celebrities of all different kinds, which means that everybody has to pitch in when it comes to landing stars. Adrian Grenier, who plays Vincent Chase on the show, recently chipped in and landed Eminem after interviewing the rapper for a documentary.

“I actually met Eminem several months ago, interviewing him for a documentary we’re making. He mentioned that he loved the show, and I said, ‘Do you want to be on it?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ So I called Doug [Ellin, the show's creator] right then,” Grenier recounts to PopEater . “I said, ‘Doug, how would you like Eminem to be on the show?’ He said, ‘I’d love it!’”

“Well, watch what you ask for. We don’t even get to be buds. Doug wrote this whole thing — I can’t mention what it is, but Eminem and Vince have a conflict,” Grenier says with a laugh, referring to his movie star character on the show. “It’s very interesting, you have no idea.”

golden globe nominee leaves grey’s anatomy

I’ve got some bad news, Grey’s Anatomy fans: Melissa George, who plays Meredith Grey’s best friend on the show, left Seattle Grace forever today.

EW.com broke the news…

“It was my choice,” the actress-slash-Golden Globe nominee (for In Treatment) confirmed to me at HBO’s red-hot after-party, held poolside at the Beverly Hilton. “My last day of work is Tuesday.”

This is terrible news for Grey’s Anatomy, who’s seen an incredible turnover of actors over the last year.  They’ve lost George, Isiah Washington, Kate Walsh, Brooke Smith and will likely lose TR Knight soon.

That’s five very good actors, and I personally don’t think that it’s a coincidence that the show has fallen off over the past couple of seasons.  Even though the medical writing on the show is solid, the characters are what make Grey’s Anatomy special.

And with constant turnover, its character-driven storylines that Grey’s fans seem to love so much are struggling.

Though George – a Golden Globe nominated actress for her role on  In Treatment – has left the show, the real bodyblow would be if Katherine Heigl left.  If Izzie turns her back on Seattle Grace, Grey’s would lose their second biggest star, and I think would alienate a great deal of their fanbase.

Agree?  Disagree? Is Melissa George leaving that big of a deal?  Would Heigl or Knight leaving doom the show?

Let your opinions be heard.

who’s jamie lynn sigler dating?

If you’ve seen this season of Entourage, you know that a curious plot line is that “Turtle Gets a Girlfriend”.  His girlfriend is the stunning Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano in HBO’s The Sopranos.

But something curious happened in this season’s aftermath.

Real-life Jamie-Lynn and Jerry Ferrera, who plays Turtle on the show, seem to be dating now.  They’re spending a ton of time together, and Sigler didn’t dispel the rumor in a recent interview with Us Magazine.

And the gossip mags and the Internet can’t seem to figure out why they’re together.

Here’s the picture gallery.

Having watched the show, I’m not all that surprised that they are having a thing in real life.  There seems to be great chemistry, and neither Ferrera or Sigler is that great of an actor.

But it will be interesting to see, with the Internet seeming to be in complete agreeance that Sigler is under-performing and Ferrera over-performing, if they let that get between them.

hbo acquires rights to obama documentary

Just two days removed from being selected as the 44th President, the rights to a documentary about President-elect Barack Obama have been purchased by HBO.

The documentary has been in the works at Class 5 Films (Edward Norton’s production company) since 2006, and, according to the press release made by the directors of the film Thursday, it features “unprecedented and exclusive access to the senator and his campaign.”

Filming will continue through the Jan. 20 inauguration.

Even though an airdate has not been set, the documentary will likely be fantastic.  Not only because of the access Obama and his campaign granted, but also because of the outstanding track record that HBO has with documentaries.

Two examples are Spike Lee’s When the Levees Broke and 4 Little Girls, which is about the terrorist bombing of a church back in 1963 that killed four young African-American girls.  Both of which deal with race in America, something that one should expect (likely indirectly) in the Obama documentary.
