katherine heigl’s is done on ‘grey’s’

Last month, Katherine Heigl was rumored to be in discussions with ABC and Grey’s Anatomy regarding her departure for the ABC staple.

Late last week, Entertainment Weekly penned a cover story about Heigl’s time on Grey’s and included that she had indeed reached the parting agreement with ABC.  Her last episode aired in January.

“I am done,” declares Heigl. “We just finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.”

Heigl has earned a terrible reputation over the last couple years by being extremely critical of the Grey’s writers and landing in the middle of several controversies, including the Isiah Washington-T.R. Knight spat.  The facts stated in the previous sentence, coupled with an increasingly successful movie career, seemed to be the two biggest reasons for the divorce.

But Heigl says it’s because of her family.

“I started a family and it changed everything for me,” says Heigl, who took a three-month family leave from Grey’s this season to bond with her newly-adopted daughter, Naleigh. “It changed my desire to work full-time.”

To learn more about Heigl’s departure, check out EW.com’s story about the situation (I don’t want to take all the quotes).

katherine heigl staying on ‘grey’s’ if show wants her

Katherine Heigl’s character on Grey’s Anatomy has cancer.  We know this.

The other thing we know about Grey’s Anatomy is show creator Shonda Rhimes can basically do whatever she wants with the storylines and the audience will love it.

While it seems like Izzie Stevens, Heigl’s character, is going to be killed off the show after beefing with Rhimes and the show’s producers and writers, the Knocked Up star says she wants to stay if the show will have her.

“I was assuming that at one point and I got a lot of shrugged shoulders and shakes of the head, so I don’t know if that’s a yes or a no,” Heigl said about her future with the show. “No one will tell me and I don’t know how this is going to go.”

As far as her storyline goes, things seem to still be up in the air.

“I don’t know if I live or die,” the actress said. “I don’t know how Izzie fares.”

If Heigl quits Grey’s, it’s going to be huge news.  You’ll likely know 2-4 weeks ahead of time because of the way the TV industry is now, so check HooplaNow.com daily for Grey’s updates.
