Last month, Katherine Heigl was rumored to be in discussions with ABC and Grey’s Anatomy regarding her departure for the ABC staple.
Late last week, Entertainment Weekly penned a cover story about Heigl’s time on Grey’s and included that she had indeed reached the parting agreement with ABC. Her last episode aired in January.
“I am done,” declares Heigl. “We just finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working really hard to find an amicable and gracious way of letting go and moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.”
Heigl has earned a terrible reputation over the last couple years by being extremely critical of the Grey’s writers and landing in the middle of several controversies, including the Isiah Washington-T.R. Knight spat. The facts stated in the previous sentence, coupled with an increasingly successful movie career, seemed to be the two biggest reasons for the divorce.
But Heigl says it’s because of her family.
“I started a family and it changed everything for me,” says Heigl, who took a three-month family leave from Grey’s this season to bond with her newly-adopted daughter, Naleigh. “It changed my desire to work full-time.”
