Part of the reason American Idol‘s hiring of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is so shocking and such a big deal is because of Tyler’s past standing as one of the most recognizable — and well-respected — front men in the music industry.
Kid Rock knows full-well about Tyler’s status and he believes Tyler is ruining his reputation.
“I think it’s the stupidest thing he’s ever done in his life,” Kid Rock told EW recently.”He’s a sacred American institution of rock ‘n’ roll, and he just threw it all out the window. Just stomped on it, and set it on fire.”
Tyler will join Jennifer Lopez as the two new judges on American Idol this season in the show’s reconfiguration to try to save the franchise in the wake of Simon Cowell’s departure.
