lipstick jungle is officially dead

Posted on 29 March 2009 by e.vandril

Sorry, Lipstick Jungle fans, but the Brooke Shields-show is officially dead, Shields confirms.

“It was going to stay and we just were officially told it’s finally not coming back,” Shields said Saturday night. “It’s very sad. I think a lot of people were really sad, but I think we hung on a really long time. It was three great years that we’ve been working on it.”

This was one of the longest cancellation periods I’ve ever seen.  If you remember back to December, Lipstick Jungle was thought to be canceled.  Multiple credible sources confirmed this (including HooplaNow), but the network never confirmed that it was cancellation.  Shields says that she just found out.

“It literally just happened,” she said. “We’re all kind of reeling and trying to figure out what our next move is.”

lipstick jungle resurrection

Posted on 13 December 2008 by e.vandril

I don’t know how many fans of Lipstick Jungle are out there, but they must know this: Lipstick Jungle has two shows left, and if its fans don’t save it in that span, it will certainly be cancelled.

But the protocol for saving the Brooke Shields-starring show won’t follow the likes of Jericho, with fans sending peanuts to the offices of CBS, but rather simply tuning in.

You see, Lipstick Jungle has struggled mightily in the ratings, which was the cause of its relegation to Friday nights.  And because of this move, it was thought to be cancelled – along with Christian Slater’s My Own Worst Enemy - before the TIVO/DVR numbers were included.

But the thing about those figures is that they allow the viewers to skip over the commercials, which is something networks hate because it doesn’t attract advertisers.

With all of this being said, if you’re a fan of Lipstick Jungle, call your friends and tell them to tune into the show live on NBC.  That’s the only way it will stay alive.

lipstick jungle not dead yet

Posted on 18 November 2008 by e.vandril

According to a report in the New York Times, the rest of the media got in wrong last week, when they said that NBC’s Lipstick Jungle had been cancelled with My Own Worst Enemy.

The first hint that the media may have been wrong happened Sunday night, when Brooke Shields did an interview, and said that the show had not yet been cancelled.

The reason for its’ apparent resurrection happened because the show showed signs of life on Friday night, and especially with a strong DVR audience.  In fact, it received a 50 percent boost when DVRs and other time-shifting devices were taken into account.

Now, Lipstick Jungle will finish off their 13-episode order with NBC, and then may or may not receive more episodes in addition to this, depending on its performance for the rest of the season.
