I know I’ve said this before, but the response to the Patrick Swayze articles has been great.  I’m very impressed by how nice everyone is to Swayze, who’s going through a great deal right now with his battle with pancreatic cancer.

For all Swayze fans out there, I have good news: The actor, who currently stars in AMC’s The Beast, has signed a book deal with Atria Books to write his memoir.  His wife, Lisa Neimi, will author the book.

According to the press release announcing the deal, Swayze will touch on everything that’s happened to him throughout the course of his life.  But the most written about subject will be his battle over the past year with cancer.

“With everything I’ve been fortunate enough to do in my life, and covering such a wide range of diverse subject matters, I’m told that my story has been inspirational to people,” Swayze, the 56-year-old star of Dirty Dancing and the A&E series The Beast, said in a statement. “I will write from my heart about these experiences and aside from the sheer pleasure of doing it, if people happen to garner inspiration from it, or incentive, or find a new way to love, it would be wonderful.”

I can’t wait to read it.

I’ve been blown away by how nice the comments were on my first Patrick Swayze story – the one where he was released from the hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.  I mean, in the blogosphere it’s rare that such nice things are said on a blog-type of entertainment-news site.

Cheers to those of you who wrote the nice remarks.

But Swayze is back in the news, unfortunately.  He’s still cancer-stricken, and a media report was published earlier in the week in The National Enquirer that said the star of The Beast had stopped treatment.  Which, in essence, means that he would soon die.

Swayze’s rep denied that the actor stopped treatment for stage 4 pancreatic cancer today, which makes me happy.  Check Swayze out on The Beast on AMC, and keep those good wishes coming.

Patrick Swayze was released from the hospital today after battling pneumonia, his rep said.

“I am happy to announce that Patrick Swayze is home after a brief hospitalization for pneumonia,” Annett Wolf, his rep, tells People.

The 56-year-old actor checked himself into a Los Angeles hospital after feeling sick on Jan. 9.  His prolonged stay in the hospital forced him to cancel several important promotional appearances that were meant to promote his new show The Beast, which premiered on Jan. 15.

The reason why the actor’s battle with pneumonia was seen as potentially fatal (and why that headline makes sense) is because Swayze is currently battling pancreatic cancer too.  Cancer of any kind leaves the person with the disease more susceptible to other illnesses.
