If you’ve been watching as much TV as I have during the month off from school, then you’ve certainly noticed the commercials for Bride Wars – starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson.
I must say that both actresses seem to be taking a large step backward with this movie. Bride Wars looks dumb. Real dumb.
And Hudson and Hathaway have both been in some really good movies. Hudson was in Almost Famous, which I saw earlier this year, and immediately fell in love with it. It’s a fantastic movie, and Hudson was nominated for a Golden Globe for playing groupie Penny Lane. Her recent choice in films has been rather poor of late, but she definitely has talent.
Hathaway does as well. There’s a good chance that she’s nominated for an Oscar for her role in Rachel Getting Married, and she was also in Brokeback Mountain, where she was married to Jack.
But now, the promotion onslaught has started. Because of this, both actresses are doing a bunch of interviews on TV, magazines, newspapers and even websites.
Hudson recently said that the most important part of a wedding is the bar.
“Number one: Make sure you’re ready to get married, that you’re really sure you want to do this,” Hudson recently told Modern Bride. “And number two, I would say really good placement of the bar! At a wedding you want to have a good time.”
Surprise. Hudson’s been divorced once, and recently split with Lance Armstrong.
What should you take away from all this?
First off, think twice before you give away your hard-earned $10 to see Bride Wars. Second, don’t take marriage advice from people who have only been in failed relationships. It would be like taking advice of how to get clean from a drug addict. Three? Well, go see Rachel Getting Married and Almost Famous.
