For years, thousands of people around the country who either saw or knew of Will and Grace seemed to have the same feeling: Sean Hayes is really convincing as a gay guy.

And for years, Hayes refuted all the rumors and maintained that he was a straight man.

Until he came out in last week’s The Advocate.

The piece in The Advocate is kind of a run-of-the-mill article about Hayes and the difficulties he’s had as a closeted man for so many years.  But the interesting thing I found about the piece was the first section where the article frames Hayes as an obvious gay man who has a ton of mannerisms and such that make it a no-brainer that he is a homosexual.

In my opinion, it’s weird that this article would be framed this way because it’s almost as if the writer and editorial staff are encouraging other gay men to come out by saying these things about Hayes in his ‘coming out’ feature story.
