Event Description

The Coe College Offices of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion along with Religious and Spiritual Life and Multicultural Affairs, the Committee on Diversity and a variety of student organizations, welcome Natasha T. Miller to kick off Women’s History Month on Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the D. K. Auditorium. The doors will open at 7:00 p.m. The public may access the D.K. Auditorium by the east wheelchair accessible exterior entrance.

Miller is a Detroit native, performance poet, LGBTQ activist, film producer and founder of the Artists Inn Detroit. She has been a member of four national slam teams, has starred in a national Sprite commercial and a CNN ad, and is a Women of the World Poetry Slam three-time top five finalist.

Miller has performed in stadiums for as many as 30,000 people and at universities and colleges across the nation. She has been featured in popular magazines like Vogue and Entrepreneur. She currently tours the world using her words to enlighten, create equality, and most importantly spread truth and forgiveness in the tradition of so many great leaders before her. She is the author of a book of poetry entitled, Butcher. Butcher is about love and loss – about being unapologetic and transparent in grief. Miller found an unexpected solace in the kitchen after losing her best friend and brother, Marcus. She explores addiction, family and tragedy.

Miller will be on campus on March 5 visiting classes during the day before her performance at 7:30 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.  A reception will follow the performance.
